Dr. Felise May Barte believes in providing premium personal patient care in the spirit of excellence.

Dr. Barte is a board-certified ophthalmologist that specializes in glaucoma, cataract surgery and comprehensive ophthalmology. Dr. Barte’s interest in ophthalmology began as a high school student when participating in a medical mission in the Philippines. After meeting a World War II veteran who had lost his left eye in battle and had severe glaucoma in his only eye, she witnessed the effects of declining vision- limited independence and restricted quality of life. Dr. Barte is dedicated to providing patients optimal sight, so that they can continue to enjoy their independence and the activities that make their lives fruitful.

Dr. Barte earned her medical degree from the Loyola University Stritch School of Medicine in Chicago, Illinois, where she was granted the Loyola Auxiliary Scholar Award. After finishing a combined medicine and surgery internship at Resurrection Medical Center in Chicago, Dr. Barte completed her ophthalmology residency at the Kresge Eye Institute in Detroit, Michigan. In addition, she completed a Glaucoma fellowship at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, Texas.

Dr. Barte is a published author and was awarded the David Barsky M.D. Research Award in residency. She has spoken at numerous local and national research conferences. Dr. Barte is fluent in Spanish. She is a member of the Phi Beta Kappa Society, American Academy of Ophthalmology, American Academy of Ophthalmic Executives, American Glaucoma Society and the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons. Outside of caring for patients, she enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, karaoke, good food and playing tennis.

Dr. Barte practiced ophthalmology in California, before returning to Michigan where she most recently practiced at the Eye Care Associates of Michigan. She will be joining the Ophthalmic Specialists of Michigan in November 2020. She sees patients at the OSM Southfield and Dearborn locations and performs surgery at the Livonia Outpatient Surgery Center.
