Dearborn, MI – Ophthalmic Specialists of Michigan (OSM) has welcomed two new physicians, Dr. Benjamin Reinherz, a Vitreoretinal Disease and Surgery specialist and Dr. Bianca Kizy, a Cataract Surgery and Comprehensive Ophthalmologist to their growing team of eye care specialists.
In addition, the group also recently opened a brand-new facility in Dearborn, MI. With more clinical space and more physicians, OSM hopes to fill a gap in the increasing demand for eye care services being driven by the aging Baby Boomer generation, and the increasing incidence of secondary causes of eye disease including diabetes and hypertension, both of which have a high prevalence in Metro Detroit.
OSM has been in Dearborn since 1977, however the steady growth they have seen over the last several years initiated the need for more clinical space to meet the specialty eye care needs in that community. This brand-new building, which opened in August, is nearly 9,000 square feet with expanded dedicated parking for patients, and new state-of-the-art ophthalmic testing technology and equipment. “We are excited about OSM’s growth in metro Detroit and the opportunity to continue our tradition of caring for our local communities,” said Greg Nodland, CEO of OSM. OSM also has clinical locations in Madison Heights and Livonia as well as an outpatient surgery center in Livonia.

Dr. Reinherz and Dr. Kizy are the most recent physicians to join OSM’s group now totaling 8 specialty doctors. OSM’s vision is to continue to expand accordingly with the changing needs of metro Detroit.
Dr. Reinherz, a board-certified ophthalmologist by the American Osteopathic Association, specializes in treating patients with retinal disorders such as age-related macular disease (AMD), wet AMD and diabetic retinopathy. After earning his medical degree from Florida’s Nova Southwestern University, where he graduated at the top of his class, he completed his residency training in Ophthalmology and served as chief resident at St. John’s Episcopal Hospital in New York. Subsequently, he completed a two-year vitreoretinal surgical fellowship at the Vitreoretinal Foundation – Eye Specialty Group in Tennessee. Dr. Reinherz sees patients at the Madison Heights location.
Dr. Kizy, who specializes in Cataract Surgery and Comprehensive Ophthalmology, is a native of Detroit. She earned her medical degree from Wayne State University School of Medicine, where she graduated with distinction, and completed her residency in ophthalmology at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, MI. Dr. Kizy sees patients at the Madison Heights and Dearborn locations.
“We are proud to welcome Drs. Reinherz and Kizy to the OSM family,” said Nodland. “Both bring a high level of expertise and a passion for helping patients preserve and restore their sight that will be a true asset to our patients.”
