Glaucoma is a disease that happens when high pressure in the eye damages the optic nerve. Primary open-angle glaucoma is the most common type. It causes no obvious symptoms, so the patient has no idea that they can go blind. As there is currently no cure for glaucoma.
Tell Others About Glaucoma:
Spread awareness by telling friends and family about glaucoma. You may be surprised to find out that someone close to you had no idea that it was such a widespread problem. Share with loved ones to help them understand this serious eye disease.
Participate in Glaucoma Fundraisers & Events:
Offer to volunteer at events and fundraisers. Encourage the community to take better care of their eyes. As more people discover the dangers, they will be motivated to see an ophthalmologist. Eventually, this could help lower the number of new cases added each year.
Schedule an Eye Doctor Visit:
Schedule a visit with your OSM ophthalmologist. This should be done yearly to check for glaucoma and other conditions. Act on what you know so that you can prevent blindness as well as help others do the same!
