She completed her residency at Kresge Eye Institute, Detroit Medical Center, and completed a Glaucoma Fellowship at Doheny Eye Institute, University of California, Los Angeles.
A member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology, and the American Medical Association, Dr. Kanwar has significantly contributed to the field of ophthalmology through her research and volunteering efforts. She has authored over 25 peer-reviewed research articles in leading vision and ophthalmology journals and presented the work at national meetings. She was recognized for these contributions with awards like the Robert C. Fraser MD Scholarship.
Outside of her clinical commitments, Dr. Kanwar has actively participated in various teaching roles and community volunteering efforts focusing on vision-related diseases. Additionally, she has coordinated and organized several initiatives to promote interest in the field of ophthalmology among medical students. In her spare time, Dr. Kanwar enjoys exploring new hiking trails and spending time with her family and friends, often engaging in outdoor activities.
